Description

Description

Rapidly identify and differentiate Campylobacter, Wolinella, and Helicobacter based on their ability to hydrolyze indoxyl acetate using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Indoxyl Acetate Disk. Hodge et al. confirming the findings of Mills et al first found in 1987, reported that Indoxyl Acetate Disk was reliable for differentiation of Campylobacter spp1,2. In 1990, further investigation of the disk by Popovic-Uroic et al. reported the method to be more reliable than nalidixic acid susceptibility for differentiation of Campylobacter spp. and useful in differentiating Wolinella and Helicobacter3.

Rapidly identify and differentiate Campylobacter, Wolinella, and Helicobacter based on their ability to hydrolyze indoxyl acetate using Indoxyl Acetate Disk.

  • Ready to use: Reagent-impregnated disk.
  • Rapid test: Results are obtained within 20 minutes.
  • Easy to identify: A positive result showcases development of blue or blue-green color.

Bacterial esterase releases indoxyl from indoxyl acetate which reacts spontaneously to produce indigo in the presence of oxygen. A total of 981 strains of Campylobacter, Wolinella and Helicobacter were evaluated in separate studies published by Hodge et al and Popovic-Uroic et al2,3.
