Cefoxitin is a semisynthetic, broad-spectrum second-generation cephalosporin with antibacterial activity. The activity of cefoxitin results in the weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis. Cefoxitin acts by interfering with cell wall synthesis.
