It is involved in the extraction of lube oil process and in the purification of synthetic gas.

Solubility
Miscible with water, lower alcohols, ketones, ethyl acetate, castor oil, chloroform and benzene. Moderately miscible with aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Light sensitive and hygroscopic. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Hygroscopic.
